Midlands Marilyns Challenge – The Cloud, Staffordshire 343 m/1,125ft
Tucked away in the Staffordshire Moorlands just a stone’s throw away from the Peak District, sits ‘The Cloud’. Also known as Bosley Cloud, this 343 m/1,125ft marilyn hill lies on the border between Cheshire and Staffordshire. Managed by the National Trust, the trail heads up the Timbersbrook wooden steps and through gorgeous woodlands before opening out onto the heathland leading up to The Cloud trig point and Toposcope. You can see this rocky outcrop from miles around, and views from the top stretch across the whole of the Cheshire Plan and along the gritstone ridge of Cheshire’s Peak District. Free car parking is available at Timbersbrook picnic site and is a short walk from the main trail.
It may have been a grey and hazy day, but the forest was beautiful and peaceful as it winds down ready for winter. Frankie and Ruby loved running through crunchy leaves, following scent trails left by rabbits and other wildlife before scrambling up the gritstone rocks on the heathland.
