Midlands Marilyn Challenge – Titterstone Clee Hill, Shropshire Hills

Marilyn #17 certainly wasn’t going to make it easy for me. In sideways, freezing rain driven into your soul by relentless 35mph winds, Ruby and I set out on what would be the fastest hike I think we’re ever done.

Usually, when Alltrails, Komoot or Strava give a ‘suggested time’ for completion, I usually take this with a pinch of salt. Being a naturally slower hiker (especially on uphills – I blame my long legs for slowing me down), I usually end up adding an hour on top of suggested times. There’s also the element of taking photos, being at the dogs’ sniffing pace… which will slow you down anyway.

But today? I came in 10 minutes FASTER.

I guess being wet, cold, miserable and having zero visibility will do that to your pace!

Oh and did I mention that I also ended up with a flat tyre and a £138 bill for a new one? Screw you, universe.
