Stiperstones, Shropshire Hills
Our first time visiting the Stiperstones for a sunrise hike on the Winter Solstice found us shrouded in fog and cloud with zero visibility, so I was determined to come back to full explore the area.
With the forecast at least showing a break in the rain, I returned to Stiperstones with the pups in tow today for a relaxed wander. The pups LOVED scrambling over the rocks and getting to explore such a unique landscape.
The Devil’s chair is LOVED by local scramblers, and it was busy today with loads of people enjoying climbing the rocks. The trig point sits on top of rocks, so to get a good trig slap you have to put some effort into getting there!

- Parking: The Knolls carpark (Free)
- Dog friendly: Absolutely! The pups loved scrambling over the rocks and jumping through the heather, but be wary of livestock in the nearby fields which includes cows.
- Path: Very rocky and uneven underfoot, boggy in places – hiking boots are a must! Paths are well signposted and easy to follow
- Route: 5km with about 140m elevation gain, the ridge is exposed so prone to freezing and high winds.
